Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to invite you to an essential meeting taking place on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Mariner High School starting at 6:30 pm. I would like to explain why you need to be at this meeting. Southwest Florida is experiencing a brain drain. Brilliant talent leaves here in droves every year when the local high school graduates become college freshman in someone else’s community. We, as a community of individuals, educators, employers and business owners need to work together in order to promote the growth of our community. We are at battle with the brain drain and our battle cry needs to be, “Live here, learn here, work here!” Southwest Florida has been looked over too many times for great opportunities to come to our area. We are currently, mainly, a tourist area and although that is ok – what happens from May to October when more and more local businesses are closing their doors because they simply cannot afford to survive the “off-season”? We need to stand out in the country and even more specifically in the state of Florida as being a leader in technology and as being a great place to foster technology growth because of our educated and skilled workforce.
So now the question is how do we stop the brain drain? I need your help in answering this question. Being fueled by hope, I have a vision. However, I want to hear your ideas too, after all this is OUR community… I hope to see you on Wednesday, May 16.
Sincerely,
Adam Nowicki
